When I was 13 years old I watched in awe as my older sister gave birth at a birth center with the support of midwives. As I sat at the end of the bed with a perfect vantage point I witnessed the most miraculous thing I could imagine. The perfection of women’s bodies and the whole process inspired me not only in my own birth experiences but also as a girl blossoming into a woman. The moment so profoundly inspired me that it would eventually shape not just my perspective on birth, but my career path as well. Most women don’t have this luxury in this day and age to witness birth, breastfeeding and child rearing from our peers and elders. Birth to me it’s a rite of passage and many traditions are being lost. I am passionate about honoring these traditions and not losing perspective of the brilliant design of our bodies and the symbiotic relationship between baby and mother. My placenta business is an extension of this belief.
After a 20 year journey in the birth world I am finally pursing my dream of becoming a Midwife, and am on track to receive my license in the Fall of 2016. Currently I support families on their journey as a birth doula, child birth educator, placenta encapsulator, and a natural birth and family consultant. I live in Santa Monica with the love of my life and my 3 children. My other services are described in detail on my website www.birthingblyss.com

Since the birth of my second son Jupiter, my desire to support women during this sacred passage has blossomed. It feels so special to peek into a woman’s journey during this beautiful and intimate time.
I’m a devotee to sisterhood, an advocate for nutrition, a breast milk enthusiast and I value indigenous customs. Placenta medicine resonates with me because I wholeheartedly believe in it’s healing properties.
I am currently looking to become a birth doula. I live in Pasadena with the three who make my world shine bright – my husband Reidar and my enchanting sons, Fox and Jupiter. My dream is to embolden women, to comfort, and most importantly SUPPORT them through this extraordinary moment in their lives… Motherhood.

I started my journey enjoying being a stay at home mom for my 3 children. I gained my love and passion for the birth world when I was invited and witnessed a few of my friends births of their children.
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science, and I am a trained Postpartum Doula through CAPPA, and became an IBCLC in 2010; I have been helping women with breastfeeding for over 10 years. I have worked in several hospitals doing rounds in Postpartum, Labor and Delivery, and NICU. I also have worked with WIC (Women Infant Children Program), taught support Peer Groups and have provided breastfeeding support to women and their babies in the Native American communities.
I eventually felt the call of midwifery on my life while helping mom’s with their breastfeeding babies. I am very excited to assist women during their pregnancy, birth and postpartum. I started Midwifery school in 2013 as a student at Nizhoni Institute of Midwifery in San Diego, California and graduated in November of 2016. I am hoping to become a Licensed Midwife and Certified Professional Midwife in California sometime in 2017. My love for the growing family began over 10 years ago with my work as an infant nanny. This was my first exposure to unedited birth stories and the truths of the postpartum period. I reveled in both the joys and challenges each new life brought to their transforming family. I quickly realized my calling was to the care of the family unit.
My passion for birth arrived as I became a first time mother. I was completely dedicated to successfully navigating each step of my pregnancy and parenting. I feel so blessed that I am able to continue caring for families as a childbirth educator, birth doula and placenta specialist. I feel strongly that placenta preparation for new mothers can change the outlook on their postpartum period; I desire to help families experience more ease, joy and vitality during such a sensitive time. My placenta story HERE.
Some of my long terms goals for my career include making midwifery care more accessible to all women as a primary care provider. I am a current midwifery student at Nizhoni Institute of Midwifery in San Diego. I will be graduating in 2016 as a Certified Professional Midwife & Licensed Midwife.
I was born and raised here in beautiful San Diego. I live with my husband and our 3 children in Carlsbad. For fun we love to go to the beach, take weekend trips camping and picnic at local parks. When I am not with my family or working, I find passion in practicing yoga, laughing with friends and homesteading. More information can be found at mysandiegodoula.com
